***************** FILE MENU HELP FOR TAG! *********************
***************************************************************
The FILE MENU is used to load and save the documents you wish
to tag, and also to exit from TAG!. The specific options are
as follows:
LOAD: When you select LOAD, a filename window opens, showing
the current drive and directory name as the default path.
If the file you want to tag is in the current directory,
simply type in the filename and extension. If not, hit
ESC to clear the default path, and type in the full
path, filename and extension.
Note that you can start TAG! and load your document file
at the same time by typing the filename on the command
line after the program name:
TAG PATH\MYFILE.EXT
When loading a file from the command line, TAG! comes up
with the work area active. When starting TAG! without a
file name, the menu bar will be active when the program
loads.
NOTE ON FILE TYPES SUPPORTED:
TAG! automatically recognizes and properly processes 8-Bit
ASCII files, Microsoft Word files (all PC versions, but
not Word for Windows) and WordPerfect files (5.0 and
later). Files created using other word processors need
to be converted to one of these forms before using TAG!.
We recommend converting to 8-Bit ASCII form using
Ventura's own File Type / Rename function in Ventura's
Edit menu.
SAVE: When you choose this option, the document file to which
you are applying tags is saved to the disk. Any paragraphs
which have been tagged in the current session are saved
with their newly-applied tags. Paragraphs not tagged in
the current session are saved with whatever tags (if any)
they had before the document was loaded into TAG!.
ABOUT: This option displays TAG!'s copyright and version number.
QUIT: Select QUIT to exit entirely from TAG!. You will be asked
whether you want to save your work before exiting. If you
wish to return to DOS temporarily without interfering with
your current TAG! session, use the DOS shell provided in
the Options Menu.
HELP: Displays the HELP you are now reading. This help file may
be edited by calling up the file TGFILMEN.HLP in any ASCII
editor. Text lines must be 65 characters or less, and each
line must end in a carriage return. Use spacebars, not
tabs, to space horizontally within a line. The maximum
help file size is 15,000 bytes.
